Without further ado, let’s start from the top down:
Hat Suggestions for Women During Chemotherapy
We have two amazing hat suggestions for you, both providing the maximum utility a hat can provide for women undergoing chemo.
Bamboo Hats:
As the name suggests, these hats are made of bamboo fabric. What makes bamboo fabric particularly great for women undergoing chemotherapy:

Soft & Gentle – Ideal for sensitive skin, reducing irritation and discomfort.
Breathable & Moisture-Wicking – Keeps you cool and dry by absorbing sweat.
Hypoallergenic – Less likely to cause allergic reactions or skin irritation.
Thermoregulating – Helps maintain a comfortable body temperature. This is particularly useful to combat sensitivity to temperature caused by chemotherapy.
Sleep Hats:
Due to chemotherapy the scalp especially can feel sensitive to both friction and temperature. Sleep hats are designed to feel soft and gentle on the skin. In addition, they often come with removable tags and no inner stitches.
Warmth – The head loses heat quickly, especially at night, making a sleep hat a great choice for comfort.
Scalp Protection – Prevents dryness, irritation, and sensitivity caused by hair loss.
Softness & Comfort – Made from gentle fabrics like bamboo or cotton to avoid irritation.
Moisture Control – Absorbs sweat and keeps the scalp dry during the night.

Tops: What to wear to chemo with a port?
We always recommend aiming for comfort when choosing what to wear for chemo. Visiting the hospital alone can take a toll. In addition to many other things that may be going through one’s head. So don’t stress! We recommend:
- Zip-up hoodies
- Shirts with port access
Zip-up hoodies:
Why do we recommend them?
✅ Can be found in almost every house
✅ Comfortable
✅ The zip allows for easy port access
❌ If the hoodie lacks a lining under the zipper, it may rub against your skin and cause discomfort.
Optional: You can wear a zip-up hoodie without a T-shirt underneath for easy port access. For added warmth and versatility, layer a T-shirt underneath so you can remove the hoodie if it gets too hot.
Shirts with port access
These shirts are thoughtfully designed for chemo patients, addressing a common issue with some zip-up hoodies where the zipper touches the skin and causes discomfort.

Bottoms for Chemotherapy Sessions
Legwear:
Not much competition here, we recommend sweatpants or yoga pants. Chemotherapy will cause fatigue so avoid wearing jeans to make the session easier for yourself.
Socks:
Depending on the weather, choose a cozy, warm pair of socks—perhaps with an empowering message to make the experience a little brighter. We recommend taking multiple pairs, just in case you are required to stay at the hospital.

Shoes/Slippers
For better hygiene inside the hospital, we recommend wearing your regular shoes when you arrive, but switching to comfortable Crocs or slippers while staying at the hospital.
